But old tech is just that...old and barely tech.
There is something to be said for progress, as long as it is for the right reasons.

Mmm, progress....that's what you get with a functioning bike...early adopters mileage may vary.

Is it sorted now?
I jet wash my 690 with no problems.
I've seen another 690 not start after the jet wash, turned out to be water in the plug cap and I think it was sorted with wd40.
I have also read it causes issues if sprayed into certain connections, not sure if that's myth though.

Mate i know wd40 all over but ye apparently because of the low ampage it causes a problem.
So in light of this have you used wd 40 on your efi conectors and had no problems ?

Used it or procare after every wash on my previous bike that was fuel injected. Never heard of such an issue with "creepage volts" and don't know anyone else that has.
If they were that sensitive then water would cause more of a problem!

Water in the FI...recover to your nearest dealer and get your credit card ready.

The Rolling Hobo talks about making the wiring a bit more durable and waterproof on his 500exc. Might be worth a look: http://therollinghobo.com/500exc#section-18

I've used WD 40 onto and into ALL the connectors/switches/ electrical gubbins on my bikes for the last 30+ years - never encountered a problem.

Perhaps I've just been lucky........
