I'd be happy with a virtual membership card, have them for many things these days although appreciate there can be disadvantages.

Miss the sticker more.

Just curious but what are the many things you have a virtual membership card for. I don't have any and have never been offered them so am interested in what clubs or groups are offering them.

British Airways
KLM
IHG
Hilton
Every major car rental agency

All travel related I know but if they work for these cannot see why they won't for trf

If I was to carry the plastic ones I'd need a wallet like JW Pepper in Man With the Golden Gun (RIP Sir Roger Moore)

So not membership cards then, more a service providers app, that you use when booking and checking availabilities etc.

Thought you were going to say acu, national trust, English heritage, ddbc, wtra, basc, bmf, vjmc, local gym, etc etc not multi million pound industries who need an app to compete in a specific market place.

What "non profit organisations" Membership virtual cards do you hold?

Would hazard a guess that all the names you listed have spent 10 times the Trf's annual revenue on their app.

So price of 4000. Membership cards is about £2k say, what's the cost to the TRF to develop and maintain and app?

We're still waiting for a new forum, there are still fights to be paid for to save lanes. £2k on membership cards I can see justification for as it adds value to the membership, £2k on an app and £500 a year to maintain it I can't. It adds nothing a membership card can't so is therefore unnecessary wasted money, something a non profit organisation can't do.

The whole point of the current selective membership card options was to save money, not create a wish for something more expensive than it replaces.

A card can be photographed and stored as a membership card on my phone, no special app needed.
Have two or three h&s cards from customers stored this way for the same reason.

Greetings,

It has been interesting to read the various views put forward by colleagues and, to me, even more interesting has been to read some of the 'guessed' at projected costs.

I have been looking at some of the websites of various companies specialising in the production of business and specialist membership type cards and guess what they seem to come in under the speculative costs suggested, here is a link to one such company picked entirely at random; https://www.madebyoomph.com/prices

Perhaps we need a small team, authorised by the Directors, to work specifically on the project and to report back to the Membership with hard facts and not hypotheses. A specified time frame should be stated or this will just run and run. Maybe we have a member/s who work in the printing industry or has previous experiences of a similar exercise that we can rely on.

If somebody, or a small group, wants to offer to coordinate the artwork and logistics then all well and good.

TTFN

Hugh.

5000 cards = £1825 plus vat and packaging. Members details sent to them on a excel file monthly to generate that months renewals.

So now we have an idea. We can however buy blank cards and a membership/ID card printer for under £1000 and then add on the price of the blank cards and ink.

So I think the guesstimate of £2k isn't far off the mark.
