I have one and it will do everything you are wanting it to do, as you say the extra weight will hinder it slightly compared with the 350 but keep that in mind and you'll be fine....choose your tyres wisely though as extra weight will go through the wrong tyre quickly.

I was speaking to the dealer yesterday, who is a very competent rider, he says the rear tyre is fine off road, especially this time of year
but be wary of the front, just go for something with more side tread.
The bike requires very few mods as well, rear number plate hanger, akropovic tail pipe, foam filter, rack and bag.

I test road it and i was really really impressed, rode to the dealer on my 1200gsa,then went out on it for about 10miles on the road, it felt so
much better than i thought it would, I should have one within weeks now.

My pleasure but some pressure :)

Glad you're liking it. It took me all of 30 seconds.

2 months in.... What are your feelings?

I had missed this thread earlier, but test rode both the SWM and Husky last year looking for a lightweight 5-600cc trail bike. I wanted relatively vibe free 70mph cruising with luggage capabilities to France/Spain and good off road capabilities. I found the Husky surprisingly more hardcore than I wanted, and felt the SWM had real potential for modding as a genuine all rounder as it was almost there (a good pedigree :-) ) Trouble was although lots of TE630 extras are out there they all had to come from the US or Oz! Cost... :-(

New Husky looks NICE and there are bits about such as a touring seat now... But how long until the CCM600???

2 months of ownership. 1200 miles nearly all off road.

Very happy with the 701, excellent summer green laning bike, very low maintainance, could standard of road equipment, great on the road between lanes and you can lane in the evenings till dusk then comfortable ride home 30 miles or so, excellent tank range, very comfortable, easy to ride& loads of power.

I dont find it heavy, I am a bit slower in ruts than on a smaller bike, but i mostly go off road with 4 stroke 350cc and 2 stroke enduro bikes, no problem leading or keeping up.

The tyres are coming to the end of their life , so i will probably go for a more extreme set up, Michelin AC10 rear and a Michelin comp front.

Good brakes, excellent suspension. Great value for money.

Negatives...........Personally i cant think of any.

I would buy another one.

The 701 makes a good trail bike but is not as comfortable as the older 640 Adventure with its hard suspension and solid seat.

Not sure how the 690 compares but mine had the sag wound right up by the previous owner and it was awful. Freestyles set that up properly for me and I have the suspension settings on comfort and it's pretty good now.
My seat is noticeably softer than the 701's though so that probably is a literal pain in the proverbial.
