Wanted bike for a short person!

I am 5 foot 5 and looking for my first trail bike (something I can climb on and touch the ground) to learn the basics. Open to anything that will fit!

I'm 5'6" on a good day. Using a TTR250 with a 2" lowering link at the rear and dropped the forks by 19mm. Now I'm getting used to it (ie falling off less) I could manage something a little higher.... perhaps?? Anyway I think a similar setup would be OK for you.

Hello Rob,

I think that the Serow would be a perfect bike for your physical nature and expertise.

They are very forgiving but have the way for all to handle more than you or I could throw at them. Great build quality, just wish Yamaha still produced a version. Next best in my view would be the Kawasaki equivalent. The Serow are fine on the lanes but not built for fast A roads. I have trials tyres on mine which handle fine but getting to be an old engine maintained constant higher road speeds makes slight misting around the breather, which is natural.

The Serow is easy to service and cost effective for general parts, which are relatively available without fuss being common to many bikes in the Yamaha range.

Depretiation is low in view of their age and popularity. Mine has only electiric start which is fine although some did have both electric and kick starter. I also have a rear disc brake which is preferasble to the drum version.

Go along to your local Group and chat with the folks there to find out their views for your terrain.

Surprised the Honda CRF 230f has not been mentioned yet

Lighter than the (lovely) Serow I find the honda better for the mud in Herts and the steeper more technical stuff

Beta alp 4. 350 engine very forgiving. I'm 5 5 with very short legs and this bike is brill. Or sl230 honda

I have an 05 Yamaha wr250 with a lowering link and skimmed seat also front forks slightly dropped which I may sell as its my backup bike, where are you.

Go to your nearest KTM dealer and try out a Freeride, you wont be disapointed.
