Royal British Legion sponsored bike ride.

Go on, have a go.
I'm sure if I can do it (4 times) some of you can.
If you do it in under 24 hours you get an Iron Butt certification too.

Ah yes. Had completely missed that! Thanks.
Are you doing it again this year? I'm guessing you'll be doing the northern loop if so?
Think I'll give it a crack...

Totally not "Man?" enough to use the type of roads used to achieve that average MPH.

Happy to ride 24 hours, but hey, on my roads and it certainly wont be 1000 miles.............I really think this is a bad idea and purely relying on big numbers at the expense of fun and not falling asleep.

Just my thoughts.

Well bah humbug Red!
It's only an average of 40mph ish?
Riding is riding to me. Agreed that it might not be as fun as a weekend on the trails and solo for so long might be a chore but it's for a good cause and no doubt there will be ales before and after!
YOLO.

I'm with the nay-sayer's here.

What is the point, it is dangerous and the roads you need to ride to keep up what is probably nearer 45 to 50 mph if you allow for fuel and butt breaks must be as boring as hell in this country.
Bad enough snug in a car but sat on a bike it would be my worst nightmare and I have probably ridden around 200,000 miles over my 42 years of biking.

I wouldn't stop anyone doing it if they wanted to but it certainly isn't for me.
I ride for fun, not pain.

It always takes far longer than you think. Particularly as a female coz going to the loo takes absolutely ages. The Scotland route is beautiful. And not many people can say they have done over 1000 miles in a day.
