Cracking day guys, thanks for the advice, the muscle when I dropped it (frequently) and a generally bloody good laugh - with a hint of butt clenching fear! No worries though, next time I'll have a Touratech sticker and a spare fuel can strapped on - bound to help ;)

A fantastic day out using the Tenere for what it was made for. Sorry no pictures from me this time.
The land of the rising sun provided 80% of the bikes on today's ride which was actually a very patriotic ride with the red white and blue (reminded me of the Italian Job, but no wier to ride across this time). The house of orange did however provide the scout to find the trail coped well with the terrain but struggled with map reading on a couple of occasions.
With the exception of one incident on Salterfell due to operator error, when I stalled and couldn't get going again due to a sandy base below the stones, the Metezeller Tourances got me everywhere the knobbles got the others, Chris only had Bridgestones on his super ten and his bike did the same. It only needed the confidence to keep the speed up.
Phil had been asked in the morning when we stopped for a very early lunch and petrol stop why we were not going to one of his chippies the reply to which was not sure when we will get to one and he didn't want the queues being a bank holiday, the real answer came at about 4pm when we pulled up outside the chippie at Barnard Castle, to late for most of us but Phil and Jon managed to surcome to the enticing fare.
Home to home was 318 miles according to the Satmap and the wheel bearings stood up well Craig. More of the true sense of these short adventures this section of the forum was set up to encourage, and finally for those interested we saw several pristine bikes all laidended with their Touratec gear, and not a spec of mud in sight.
Thanks to Phil for organising the ride and Jon, Chris and Ben for their good company during the day.

Forgot to mention earlier we did a reccy for part of Le Tour, plenty of signs up already and looks like it will be chaos on the weekend anywhere near the route.

Oh and a special thanks to Chris for letting me have a do on the beasty, I was pleasantly suprised how well it goes when the going got rough. I know you had a few tumbles. But who doesnt when they are learning. Dont feel like your holding anyone up, were all having a good time. Just remember when your a seasoned pro to extend the same courtesy and helping hand to new learners. I think you did great.
Keep at it and you will soon be an "expert" ;)
