Hi All

My friend and I would like to plan a summer trip, from Sunny Bedfordshire. We would like to plan to head north to try and do the East to West coast or visa Versa, trying of course to do as much as possible on Green Lanes. Does any body know if this is possible/be able to suggest to us the best place to start and aim for, so that we can get the right Maps to plan the trip.

Looking for a long weekend adventure :-)

Thanks all for you help and advice

Russ

Hi guys - I think I can help you on part of it - try this
http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/roads-transpo ... R/OS97.asp
it lists the legal trails within Cumbria

Hope it helps.

Hello

I'm planning to organise a C2C for a few members in our Group (West Yorks) in May and having lead a group in the C2C that used to be an annual event organised by Teesside TRF I'd suggest starting from the Scarborough area, taking in N Yorks Moors, Eastern Dales (overnight in Hawes/Reeth/Leyburn) then a day of circular riding ending around Morcambe, you could possibly do a bit in the Lakes, but there is still a bit of riding in the Dales.

The OS maps will show most of the legal routes, and the relevent HA/NPA websites will give TRO's etc, so it shouldn't be too hard to navigate, but prepare yourselves for a fair bit of road work.

Rich

Yes, there was a group from Northumbria TRF who did a different coast to coast. I wrote the article. It was basically the "black" route Brian Eland via C2C challenge does. We did it in a day (12 hours + in the saddle) and we went from the bottom of the lake district to Alnwick area. 225 miles and unfortunately, lots of road work.
