Just had a long and friendly chat with a DC from Derbyshire Police about off-road problem motorcycling on the urban fringes in the county.

She'd got my details from local press coverage of Mike's back to tarmac ride.

Her concern was kids on minimotos, so I was able to give some advice and get over what the TRF was about too.

Result! :D

I spoke today to PC Phil Maycock, the policeman who has taken over operation Blackbrook and he said that only two incidents were reported on Sunday and he didn't believe they was necessarily associated with the demo. A couple of bikes and quads on a lane were they shouldn't have been and a dangerous overtake manoeuvre by a trail bike. No action is likely to result from either account.

His general view was very positive. he was at the bottom of Stannage when the bikes came down and said it was very impressive. Clearly we had an effect on Sunday as it was a busy day with bank holiday visitors, sporting events and us......perhaps we are being too gentlemanly about the way we are going about it. We need to provoke a heated discussion and have a public row

Perhaps the best result is no result at all. Imagine that - the antis propaganda dream shattered by the fact that nothing bad happened. We came, we saw we made our point without incident.

Or they think it worked well and instead of the proposed 30mph speed limit on minor roads in the NPs it will now be 25mph

BUT well done all who attended.. We need more to get involved...

Pity no one wanted to do a demo past Westminster &No 10 before the NERC came in :?

The PDNPA's proposed TRO's apply to weekday rush hour as well as sunny bank holidays.

I doubt trailbikes travelling at 15-25mph would be conducive to traffic flow at these times ;)

Just to report that the 'ride the green lanes and tarmac' ride was a success! 19 turned out (although it would have been 20 if I had been able to make it). I'm not aware of any confrontations with the bobble hat brigade, and we had loads of support and banter from the local Police. They were of the opinion that we had got some really unfair treatment by the media, and understand how we feel about being demonised.
So the Old Bill is on our side! :D
