Plenty of choices, I'll start to search for some bikes now.

Does a bike like the Yamaha TTR 250 need less servicing than a KTM or Husaberg.
Only I've noticed a couple of old ones for sale that have quite high mileage (20k+).

I'm comparing that to most of the other bikes you see advertised with just a few thousand on the clock.

Or is it that a bike like the TTR 250 is used as much on the road than off and gets serviced accordingly.

Sorry if that all sounds a bit obvious but I'm another newbie.

Cheers . . Dave

i'm a recent owner of the ttr250 the blue 03 one and its supposed to be bullet proof and there not bad on the road due to a 6th gear and service intervals are much better than the pukka enduro bikes maybe twice a year and there a doddle to look after
a very underestimated bike, i love mine :D

Well decision made, I bought a new Husaberg FE450E today with the trimmings, delivery next week, so I hope I bloody well like it, lol.

I'll join my local North Yorkshire TRF group after I've had a few solo outings.

Great stuff. What made you go for the 450 over the 390.
Did you get the bike from a dealer in North Yorks?

Yes I got the bike from Craig's in Dewsbury, couple of reasons really for the 450 but nothing important I guess.

1) They only had one 390 and although a showroom model it had been to a few shows and was looking a little tired. Yes I know within 5 mins of being out for first time it'll look far worse but all the same if I'm paying for a new bike I at least want to look like one in first place.
2) Same price as KTM 450 and Husaberg 390, hey I'll never tell the difference between the machines so it's down to the pretty colours for me
3) Size wise it just seemed more comfortable, but probably identical to 390.
4) I'll be honest here, the sales man wasn't exactly the most enthusiastic person on the planet and did little to explain the features and benefits of each machine, sorry Matt if you're reading this, but I'm a sales guy myself.

So delivery early next week and then I'll potter out solo up into the Dales, taking it easy and in a few weeks probably look to join a group (hopefully a sensible bunch of folks as I'm not into the wheelie boys, never was on my road bike either).

Just the job. I know what you mean about Craig's by the way.
Anyway, enjoy yourself that's the main thing.
I'm in the same position as you by the sounds of things so let us know how you are getting on with the bike. . . Cheers Dave.

Well, yes and no.

I picked up a DRZ400SM thinking I could use that as a green lane and off road bike.
After reading the forum for a little while it looks like Green lane, maybe. Off road, probably not.

No prob though. Ive joined the TRF anyway and the Suzuki is great fun to ride on Tarmac for now. I'll probably swap it when I know a bit more about whats what.

I,ve booked on an off road skills day, 24/6, up on Sutton Bank, not far from you. It's run by Tom at i2i. I did one in April and got the bug

Good look with the new bike . . Cheers, Dave.

That's pretty close to me, 30 mins or so, I'll take a look at this as it could well prove beneficial, thanks.
