Why fit a mechanical one when Halfords do one from a pushbike which will fit any motorbike?
A speedo isn't a necessity for an MoT either so no test worries.

I thought that a speedo was a legal requirement, however it is not actually checked during an MOT test, therefore you do have to have one?

Presumably one of these should work or at least worth asking the seller.

I use one of these at £7: http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-value ... 0-8277.prd and beefed the wire up with some heatshrink to help it survive the bending caused by the forks compressing

This one is wireless between sensor and computer, but a hefty £15 ;)

Be careful with wireless MTB computers, the distance from sender to the head unit can be too far on a motorbike.

My Halfords wireless speedo works up to 60cm from the sender, however when I tried it on my CCM (White Power forks) the closest I could get them was 85cm.

I've ended up with a Trailtech Vector

I had a Trailtech Vapour on my last Husky, excellent piece of kit, you get a lot of bangs for your buck with this. Worth every penny in my opinion!

I've just fitted the Vapor (Vapour?) to my WR - absolutely superb piece of kit.
I didn't bother with the temp controls as I'm not bothered.

I strapped the sensor to the fork cover rather than drill the caliper and it works fine - just don't do up the magnetic bolt too tight  mine is now superglued in.

And buy it direct from Trailtech if you get one - I paid £70 and some retailers are charging in the mid 90's.
