I know TRF state no more than 25mph on green lanes but is there a law for this in place because you never see a speed limit sign either end of the road ,

My understanding is that this is more a TRF code of conduct rather than law.

I think it's fair to say that if conditions and circumstances be right most will exceed this at some stage.

At the other extreme I have an engines off policy for horses.

Most green lanes are national speed limit.

However the law expects motorists to travel at a speed that's safe and appropriate for the road conditions. For motorcyclists this is 25mph on green lanes. For land rover discoveries this is 5-10mph.

the law expects us to ride like that ,, so it isnt compulsory then ??
Likewise i also kill me engine if horses are about , but cant help wonder why horse riders dont use the marker system that we use on the roads or find some way to warn us they are around , which would be safer for all of us ...

i have just found this link which is interesting and talks about 20mph voluntry speed limit
