If you enjoy genuine "off road" riding instead of just "off tarmac" check out the new Rally Racing Website and forum

rallymoto.co.uk

Brought to you by the guys behind the Big Bike Rally Challenge but for 2012 there will be a UK Rally Challenge with classes for little bikes and "proper" enduro bikes.

I started racing at the end of this year and it's great fun. The average Rally is not like an enduro but more like a "challenging" trail ride with the odd bit of racing (Special Stages) thrown in!

Thanks for this link. I was doing my annual thing of planning what I would like to enter in the new year and thought I'd give a rally a go instead of just my usual trials and LDT.

In your opinion would a DR350 be a reasonable mount for rallying? What tyres be your rubber of choice?

Maybe I should click on the link and see what's there.

DR 350 should be fine, I race a 10 year old CCM 604 so you don't need the latest orange pocket rocket

Tyre choice varies widely, I did two Rallies on Maxxis Cross Enduro but will be trying a Mitas C02 on the back for the new season.

Some of the really big boys run on Conti TKCs (through neccessity of bigger tyre sizes) but are still much quicker than me.

Other tyres I've seen being used in angerby friends are Trelleborg Army Specials, Michelin AC10s, Mitas E09 or Metzeller "Six Days"

Thanks Rob

I had spotted my bike but couldn't see myself, then I managed to work out I'm sitting on the river bank having just finished draining out my mate's KTM690 ;)
