My old 2002 KTM 400 EXC blew up when being used on a field track..well stopped working with a huge amount of steam out of the exhaust...
I'd done 18,000 miles on it and it was 18 months old and I'd got it second hand...
The head had split between the exhaust valves..a very narrow crack...
I rang KTM technical dept and explained what had happened and asked for advice re welding it up..
They asked me how I'd looked after the bike..oil changes, maintanance etc and asked for a photo (I'd already had the head off..) and emailed it to them while they were on the phone..
They took a look and said they would replace the head free of charge..just take it to my local dealer, and they would tell them to replace it..
I got a new 450 head, all the parts and a full service with no charge...
I've always had KTM's .. love em..but they do tend to get bad press because of the knobs who ride them
