Hi Denzil,
Welcome to trail riding in Suffolk

The lanes are a little sparse out the Ipswich side of the county, but there is plenty to get your teeth into if you're prepared to do a little road work or to trailer/van your bike.
The easiest thing to do is to pop over to one of the monthly meetings and to have a chat. If you bring some OS maps (Landranger is better) I can help you mark something up. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the next meeting (25th August) due to family commitments, but there is usually someone there - just drop me or Richard May a line beforehand in case of complications. Meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month, in "The Manger" pub at Bradfield Combust, just south of Bury St Edmunds, on the A134, starting at 8pm.
The Suffolk group isn't that big, but we have a solid set of faithful attenders and riders that is steadily increasing, and rides are initially agreed at the monthly meeting and are then opened out to the group email list. You don't need to come along to the meetings, but it would be a good idea to get on the email list so you know where the next ride is and when. If you're not a member, let me know and you can join us for a ride or two, but after that, you really should join up.
Once you do join up, you can post in the Suffolk members' area which is useful for local rides, as well as posting in the Cambs and Essex areas (Cambs are more active on this forum, Essex seem to do their own thing a bit more)
So - whaddya ride then? Are you just starting out or are you the next Knighter?
