Why do we have to keep logging in if the members section appears to have been consigned to history?

Because you need to be a registered user regardless if you're a member or not to access any of the forum.

It stops the spambots.

I think you will find anyone can Google search TRF forum and get access to the public area without logging in or being a member. :)

Anyone can look at the public areas of the forum. That's the case for all forums I've ever been a member of.

No one can post on the forum without being a member and logging in. That's the case for all forums I've ever been a member of.

TRF members who log in can still access the Groups section in the Members' Area via the index.

I hope this helps.
