Hi there,

My xr400 engine is stripped and needs new rings. They seems to be fairly difficult to get hold of for a reasonable price.

It is a standard piston and the only place in the uk i can find is lings honda for £55.

Am I wrong in thinking this is alot for what they are? I had a new set for my ttr250 from totallyttrs.com for £28.
Is there anywhere someone can recommend?

Thanks

Dan

Genuine parts....

Or

http://www.xrsonly.com/ (could be very expensive when you see what else they offer!)

Greetings Dan,

You could check with David Silvers; http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-model

or a nationwide company such as FPS; http://www.fpsdistribution.com/branches/

Id say 55 for genuine rings sounds good. We're the ttr ones genuine? If you're running a standard Honda piston rather than a pattern replacement, personally I would only use genuine with it.

I'd trust Honda parts.

For the money you might save it seems a lot of risk to take unless you know the manufacturer and can trust them.

£55 seems reasonable when you think what damage might be caused by ill-fitting or poor specification pattern parts breaking up internally.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I'm not too sure whether the ttr ones were yamahas but i trust that the owners of the ttr shop stock decent parts.

I was just shocked at the price difference, i did however end up buying the honda rings so hopegully they will be here before the weekend! Can't wait to get out on the old bike!
