There are many TRF members wanting to get more involved with the motorcycle trade, perhaps as a career change or an additional income opportunity, but are wondering how to start.
An opportunity to represent the TRF at the UK's premier trade exhibition, Motorcycle Expo has come up. This is on for 3 days from 15th -17th Jan. If you want to get involved in this with the TRF please let us know.

I for one can see a huge benefit.
KTM and many other manufacturers sell thousands of bikes to trail riders but put very little if nothing back in. Think of how much they put into racing and just think if we had a small percentage of that.
They know that they sell bikes to trail riders lets get their support.
Regards
Eddie

Eddie has the correct answer.

The aim of TRF Marketing is to expand the TRF's influence - not just membership numbers and revenues.

The motorcycle trade and the contribution to the Economic Value of Trail Riding http://www.trf.org.uk/much-money-trail-riding-pump-economy/are a strong part of our agenda to influence.

As a simple recent example - our membership of the trade organisation MCIA - gives us preferential presence at the recent Motorcycle Live show amongst other benefits.

Our presence at Motorcycle Expo is given free of charge by the trade - who are pleased to see us there.

If it's free and local members are happy to man the stand, what's to lose?
It gets our name out there and you only need one good contact to make a big difference.

The Triumph MOC lashed out on a big stand at the NEC show which got them a better spot and I think they quadrupled their highest expectation of member sign ups.

My dad always said you had to speculate to accumulate, as long as you can afford to lose the investment.
So long as we don't go mad financially and worthwhile networking can take place, I say go for it.
If it doesn't achieve much, don't bother next time.

Adelaide - I would like to understand what is behind your interest?

We are not planning to do a report on this single free to attend event which may or may not yield a return.

May I point you to the AGM Marketing report which covers the success of our overall programme in 2016 and previous ones over recent years.

We fully appreciate not all initiatives are successful and don't generate an immediate return. If you are offering to assist through volunteering to predict which specific marketing activities will generate immediate returns and which don't we would love to hear from you.

Meanwhile a look at previous years (eg April 2013) reports may show our initiatives along the line that you may be suggesting. http://trf.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=9478&sid=f97dbeb7292f7c7132f39e2b06fe3439
Remember the KTM,BMW, Honda, etc TRF Champion initiative - to build closer links to the manufacturers. The fact remains for out of the many TRF meetings with the trade over the past few years , by far the majority - I would say 3:1 are at shows and exhibitions.

I believe the TRF should invest more in this area with mid to long term goals in mind.

For where I see it this type of event needs to be attended by decision makers who can hold constructive talks with the other people at the event.
I don't need to go any further than to explain that our foot soldiers are the wrong people to be at such an event.
If however you had a couple of people on the stand to make appointments for the Directors attending then that would make sense, but the majority of people there must be decision makers so who all know who this leaves.

Yes I saw your marketing report and as a marketing analyst and finance director of a PLC in a previous life, it was underwhelming for me.

Hi Adelaide - Firstly thank you for taking the time to review the Marketing report. We are always interested in a contrary view, particularly from an expert. Which part did you find underwhelming and why?

The many volunteers behind TRF Marketing are always open for some constructive criticism. We look forward to seeing your analysis and alternative strategies to improve performance.

Meanwhile, I would strongly urge any prospective members not to be put off from volunteering to help move the TRF forward. If you have any doubts look at the results from the turnaround of the TRF in recent years which speak for themselves.

Your gift of volunteering will be acknowledged and you will be thanked for your generous efforts by the vast majority of members in addition to the intrinsic satisfaction of knowing you actually did something concrete and positive towards the TRF's success.

Meanwhile I would like to thank at least three positive responses for the event. Three more responses (to make 2 persons per day for three days) would make us all in the TRF very happy.

Many hands - light work.
