My xr 400 has had a crf fork conversion on the front and from what I read they may be different lengths to standard.

So I'm asking if any owner on here would do me a massive favour and measure from a point on the frame to the floor so I can check mine.

Don't want to get a false reading when I'm checking the oil, that's the only thing that concerns me

Would be very grateful

Thanks

Matt

If its had a crf fork conversion wouldn't you just use the oil level spec for a crf?

Greetings,

With respect do n't get too hung up about the level of the fluid as so many other factors will affect the way that the bike will handle. If the forks have been changed to another model then the geometry of the bike will have been altered too

Just put in the 'correct' amount as for the CRF forks and see how the bike feels to you, remember that the manufacturer's specification for fork oil level and viscosity is in reality only a guide to suit 'Mr & Mrs Average'. Unless you are competing at the highest level I would suggest that it is unlikely that 10cc either way would make much difference to the safety or reliability.

Hugh.

Why does it matter about the front forks? You can just lift the bike with a motocross stand to check the oil level .

Best bet is to find how much is the correct amount e.g 900 ml (dunno what xr 400 takes)
