Ive just bought a 18 month old Beta Xtrainer with a replacement Gel battery. I've owned for 5 weeks but not had the chance to ride it yet. The battery is now completely flat (reading on line some of these bikes seem to an excessive current draw through a couple of known faults that I intend looking into. I'm guessing the original owner had this problem and thought changing the battery would remedy the problem).

I was given the original battery and the bike has a Gel battery fitted, I have never had a Gel battery before. Can I charge it in the same old way or do I need to anything different?

Gel batteries can be a bit special.

See here https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/article ... asics.html

If you need a hand with the kit to recover it call me.

As the seat pops off with ease on these xtrainers, you may want to consider disconnecting the battery so it doesn't drain when not in use. Once a battery goes too flat it's toast and will never hold a good charge again. Replace battery with quality brand and right fitment for bike. Either get an optimiser or only connect it when needed. Oh and ride it more often! 5weeks without riding it !!! Shame on you.
