Hello,

Has anyone got a photo of the rear brake light switch on a CRF230f ? I'm trying to figure out where it should be mounted. The unit is all wired in but I just wondered where the best place to bolt it on.

Thanks Joe.

Sorry but I have another question if you don't mind. I did an oil change washed the centrifugal oil filter out then went to do the side oil filter that looks like a thimble. Anyhow the thimble was just in there loose in the hole. I thought there must be a spring that someone's forgot to put back in the past. Ordered a new spring off Dave silver to push and hold the thimble in place. Only to find the thimble just drops straight through the spring it doesn't push on it like I thought it would. Dave silver confirmed it all correct. So I then ordered a new thimble thinking may be the lip is worn out on the one on the bike and is to small for the spring. Ordered a new thimble to find it exactly the same as the one I had, just drops straight through the spring putting no pressure on the thimble to hold it in place.

I wondered how yours is, does thimble get pushed into the hole by the spring ?

Thanks Joe.

Filter screen round end in spring then cap and seal It's the same as shown in this video even though its 230L The spring pushes the rubber rim against engine case, so like a bowler hat in spring with rim between spring and engine if that makes sense?

Thanks, thats what I expected. Just as I said the filter passes right through the spring. Its got to be the wrong spring.

Thanks again for clearing it up.

Joe.

I have compared part numbers, what they sent and what the crf230l oil spring is and they don't match. I have the wrong spring.

If you are struggling to get the spring try Fowlers of Bristol. Their online spares will show the item, price and stock.
