Essential if riding in the 'Peak District'.... Also Evel Knievel didn't use one, and it never did him any harm....maybe...

There is a guy on Youtube, a motovlogger called Armenian who often rides on the road with a motocross helmet but with the peak removed. It looks very cool, kind of like a jet pilot's helmet:

Well I mostly use a Thor Verge with the peak all the way to the front, keeps the sun out my eyes and crap hitting me in the face, as for the rain I can't say it does F all.

I don't feel any pull unless at national speed limit and even then not a lot, I don't think they are designed for high speed road riding. ;)
