Quite a bit of info on this site, seems SWM was quite well known in trials in the seventies.

SWM is the old Husqvarna factory. Some of the parts on those SWM bikes still have the Husqvarna logo on them

The spec on those SWM bikes looks very good. I would like to see one in the flesh. The only thing that I don't like is the twin pipes but that's something I could get over.

Never really heard or swm rod,but I believe they're linked to cagiva??,I wonder what reliability will be like and for that matter part replacement.having said that the same reliability question could be asked about the new husqvarna especially with the "fly by wire" throttle, will it stand all of the good old British mud and crud ?,it's also bloody expensive (701/690)
Oh,and the swm dealer is still an hour and a half away.

Thanks anyway rod.

Mick

I've had a year of trail riding and racing on my 690 and no issues with the electrics - :D

SWM made some of the fastest, exotic enduro bikes of the 1970's - still hold good values in the vinduro scene.

I think the word 701 enduro is a bit misleading so it's more a dual sport bike than an enduro bike? It certainly don't look like an adventure bike to me?

Look up the Red Bull hair scramble-that's enduro. Enduro is nothing to do with adventure biking. Enduro is very hardcore off roading from point to point.

Who doesn't like twin exhausts!?

Anyway coincidentally I only just registered today and the new KTM-Husqvarnas really annoy me. Husqvarna was KTM's only true rival and now they have ben bought out by the competition.

What can this new 701 do that my 2001 610 can't? The answer is nothing at all. Buying new just doesn't make any sense when it comes to these kinds of bikes. The 701 doesn't do anything different at all, how do they justify the huge markup? You are looking at 7 grand for what!? A few trinkets here and there!? You can get a more sophisticated road bike or car for the same money.

Got to admit I am very tempted to trade my Ducati and Husky WR165 in for one of these with an extra set of SM wheels.

I disagree with the above post. 74 vibe-free bhp from a single along with good handling off and on road is not to be sniffed at. I don't know another bike that has these qualities.

Anyone here got one in the passing months?
