I was brought up on map and compass, be it here in Blighty or further afield. I understand said paper map and compass, am comfortable and, arguably, fairly competent with these infallible tools. However I've starting using a Satmap 10 for my mountain biking and find it really useful - especially in poor weather (whilst carrying map and compass as backup obviously). With relatively short routes I'm happy to build and store my chosen routes using the Satmap device itself. However for greenlaning and 80 - 100miles to mark, record and store routes I'm keen to build up options on my MacBook Pro using OS mapping.
I know how to build the routes on the OS website (access to 1:25k and 1:50k mapping plus aerial photos - and all for £18 pa? Bargain) but is it possible to transfer them (via .gpx?) onto my Satmap please? If it is possible is there an idiot's guide that even I can follow? Or do I need to go cap in hand to one of my sons? I've googled it but find the advice less than clear!

Download Satsync from the Satmap website to your pc.
You can then connect Satmap via the lead to pc and import/export to satmap.

Hi Tim.

Unless you have a special reason to use multiple different systems you may like to use Satmap expedition (which replaces the OS web creation) and Satsync (which transfers the file from your PC to the Satmap)

Both these are Satmap tools all designed to do what you are seeking on the Satmap

It is also free.

Guides and links all on the Satmap web site
