Well, gone done it and bought me a DRZ400.

I've been farting on fettling wheels, bearings, forks, brakes and so on.

The CRD exhaust system, which is whisper quiet, is fouling the lower radiator hose on the right radiator....it seems different models of DRZ such as the S and SM have a different radiator arrangement. It;s bodged with heat wrap and the pipe seems to be surviving unscathed....

Do these systems normally foul cooling pipes? Seems a bit shit if it is - not fit for purpose and all that.

I assume if I loosen the header pipe and mounting bolts along the silencer it may just be a case of getting it positioned properly?

Anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers

Ash

I think the rads are all the same- S, SM and E. Difference is the E has no fan behind the left hand rad. Could be different header- not for a,drz. You may have to match up a stock header.

there are actually 3 different configurations that have been made.

the S/SM are all the same regardless of year.

the 00-02 E/K are the same.03-current E are the same.

So the S/SM and the E are different.

Sorry chaps, its the RIGHT radiator, Ive changed the original post.

Mine is the E model. No cooling fan.

When I google it I find pictures where the offending hose comes more from the lower back of the radiator on most bikes and not stright out the bottom a la mine. it then clears the pipe by miles. Must be an E model spec thing having this extra pipe in the cooling system.

Annoying!
