That looks better...someone who is short of leg might want to take the old spring off your hands?

The first yellow spring is scrap really, it turns out it was not heat treated so that why it failed.

Ive been out with the new spring again this weekend, doing a bit more testing.

It works great.

The only problem I can detect is when really pushing on and getting the wheels off the ground (on a local mx track), the rear damper fully extends with a clunk. Its not a problem 99% of the time but its there and is down to the short length damper.

Its a compromise I can live with.

Got home from work early yesterday to find my EJK fuel controller had arrived :D so got straight out and put it on. It really is a simple piece of kit to fit , it only took about 15 minutes. I routed the cables and put it under the saddle where the handbook usually goes (thanks YouTube).

Also fitted the DNA high flow air filter that came a couple of days before, again another simple to fit item and went straight in with no problems. While I was there I did a small mod to the airbox by drilling a 1" hole in the top next to the original and shortening the snorkel inside.

I already had an FMF Q4 slip on with a megabomb header thanks to the previous owner along with a 13 tooth front and 43 rear sprocket.

Went out for a quick try out on the road and boy does it pull now in every gear. The torque is fantastic. Its really noticeable in 6th which has gone from being a cruising overdrive to a gear that will keep on accelerating until I run out of bottle (didn't take too long on the AC10's).

I don't know how much it will affect the fuel consumption but I don't use it for commuting or regular road work so am not really worried about that.

Just need to try it on the dirt now.

Am due to pick up my new (to me!) CRF250L this weekend.

Where are the best places to buy some of these upgrades? Such as bar risers etc.

Welcome, the moose (a pistonheader I believe ;) )

Look on eBay, you are after 7/8" or 22mm bar risers.

The basic ones will look this:

Thank you for your welcome, and guilty as charged (who are you on PH then?!)

Is there any particular brand of bar risers to look for, or are they all much of a muchness? Do we know what the measurement between the bolt centres is for these?

My biggest concern moving forward with my green laneing is whether to go mousses or heavy duty tubes. I really don't want to f**k about changing tubes on the side of a trail. I'm not the best at that sort of thing and could do without F*****g about with levers etc etc etc.

My concern with mousses is the feeling it gives - supposedly under inflated and having to travel between lanes.

Thoughts?

The hole centres are standard, these will fit:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Mot ... 27e1340eb4

Ive bought other cheaper ones that were slightly tighter on the hole centres but still fitted:

Mousse information here: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=15639&hilit=mousses

I would just test the bike out first, better tyres, bar risers (depending on your height) , sump guard, hand guards and folding gear lever are the essentials imo.

If you are new to green laning, you will be worse than the bike though :)

Re bar risers, sometimes up is good, but I found I needed up AND forward , from the states off eBay..£50.. My mate got an engineer mate to knock him some up for free for his Ktm ... Once he had checked mine out !...(Crf250x) or you can get real posh ones that you can have forward or backward or anywhere inbetween... They swivel...
