Well I do hope to come to more of these sort of things if I'm not at work. I've previously attended protests and such like, again when time permits.

Typically how long do these decisions take?

Jake,

So far as I understand we just have to wait as there is no specified time scale within which the Inspector has to make a decision.

The legal system is a terribly slow moving beast that will not be hurried by little people such as we.

Suffice to say that as things stand today we can still use the lane, however may I add a caveat that due respect is shown to those who live from and work the land. I had a good chat with the local farmer who gave evidence today, he told me that he only has problems with those who disregard others by using the lanes as a race track :!: I fully support him in that point of view. Stick to the TRF Code of Conduct and help us to help you.

TTFN

Hugh.

Completely agree Hugh! Having land in the family accessed by what is now unfortunately classed as a restricted byway I see motor vehicles still use this route, and although personally I do not have a problem with this (route was always used by vehicles in past with no problems and plenty wide enough etc) the only problem is when people go at excessive speeds or do not give way to other users.

My knowledge of the law regarding legal statuses etc is pretty good but when it comes to these inquiry's and court issues I get a bit lost in it all.

Hi Mike,

I currently don't have a motorbike but hopefully looking to next summer to have one again. As a country lad I've already an interest in our historic county routes and have driven many before in my defender. I've got a good knowledge of routes in the Peak District and surrounding areas and would like to help protect these routes and our rights for many years to come.

In the meantime I'm very happy to get involved with keeping my eyes and ears open as to whats going on, attending protests and inquiries (when not at work), filling in UEF's and spreading the word, encouraging other people to not sit back etc.

Jake

In the report published 2 years ago, under "levels of vehicular use" it gives the figures obtained in the survey from April to July.
The average daily use over the period was 3 cars or larger vehicles, and 4 motorcycles.
This was described as high! ..... 7 vehicles a day!!! High !!!
Talk about inflammatory language.
No reasonable person could describe 7 vehicles a day as high usage.
