West Horsley TRO applications Area:Surrey County Council Deadline: 27th August 2010 Subject TRO: West Horsley Byways 538 and 539 Further info: http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/s ... endocument Discussion:There are quite a number of big houses adjacent to these lanes so the thought is that these TROs are being promoted by the NIMBYs who live there. The wording of the applications quite specifically write out use by motorcycles. Comments:I saw this while looking through the TBM forum and thought it best to be posted on here. These lanes are very nice to ride and it would be a shame to lose them. Contact:Steve Sharp is the TRF Surrey group rep and is also the ACU Rights of Way Officer. |

Act Now - TRO Byway 538 & 539 Objection Details Update 4th December 2010 : Steve Sharp : Great news we generated 258 letters objecting, and Surrey CC Countryside Access Department have recommended that the local council drop the proposed TRO. Please click on the link below to see the report. The report will be presented to the local council on 8th December. http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/legcom/Counc ... enDocument Hi All, Thanks Tim for your initial post, below is additional information. We finalised details at yesteredays TRF meeting. I urge everyone to write a letter and object to the proposed TRO's, if we do not object in vast numbers the local council will implement the TRO. Surrey County Council Countryside Access team have stated that the Byways do not meet the Surrey CC TRO Policy, and recommend that they should be repaired, vegetation is cut back and speed advisory signs are erected instead of a TRO. However, they were overuled by the local council, who are determined to TRO the Byways. I have just loaded up PDF versions of the council documents and our TRF guidance sheet on to this post. See attachments. Post below contains the Plans/Map of TRO's. If you find it difficult to write a letter please just write a few words saying that you object, and state a few main reasons. We must generate as many objections as possible. Do not hesitate to contact me for any advice, guidance, or to discuss any aspect of this. Regards Steve Sharp Surrey TRF RoW Officer PS Also available at Surrey TRF Forum http://surreytrf.free-forums.org/act-no ... vt516.html

Hi Steve, many thanks for notifying us all of this TRO and putting in all the legwork with your uploaded PDFs and reasons to object etc. We're trying to keep this particular thread as a kind of index so I've created a new sub-forum to discuss this issue here: viewtopic.php?f=86&t=2868 oh and I've objected of course |

I've just read through the pdf's after reading the first page of Trail, and emailed an objection. Bloody good work there Steve, posting all that up in good time. I can see that they want perfectly good lanes closed to vehicles, what's the agenda though? NIMBY's, fear of increased traffic, would rather the lanes quietly overgrew, rather than spend money repairing them, just don't like vehicles...? (Sorry for posting on top of this thread, but apparently I'm "not authorised to read this forum" when I click the link. (I am logged in) |

It looks as if its just a few people who started this and stirred everyone up....not sure of their real motive...probably usual thing, they dont like vehicles in the countryside, and sharing... Steve |
