Staying on the Right Track
Vehicles in the Countryside in the Peak District National Park

Update – October 2010

Notice of Voluntary Restraint - Minninglow/Gallowgate Lane
This update is to inform vehicle users of this restraint, which comes into force on the 1st November and ends on 31st May 2011. A copy of the site notice is attached with this edition of our newsletter. The restraint is in place to allow the unsurfaced lane time to recover over the winter period after repairs have been carried out at a local farmer’s expense. Landowners are involved and support this voluntary restraint order, which has been carried out and approved through the LARA process and with the help of the Peak and Derbyshire Vehicle User Group.

We would be grateful if you could spread news of this restraint and if you have any questions obviously don’t hesitate to contact us (rightsofway@peakdistrict.gov.uk) or 01629 816296. The lane is shown on the map below by a black line. It lies in the south of the Peak District National Park between GR SK 197 576 to SK 222 565.

please abide or it will be a tro followesd by closure D.C.C find this the easy escape route

It should be between http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?g=SK197576 and http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?g=SK222565

Yep, thats the one.

As stated above, please do comply with this request as failure to do so will inevitably undermine th ecredability of those TRF members in the area who are fighting so hard to preserve our rights in this wonderful part of the country.

Cheers

Richard

Richard,

Would it be standard practice for the local TRF group to contact the Peak Parks Authority and let them know that the restraint has been highlighted on the forum and that they support the voluntary restraint?

Perhaps even getting a message out to the farmer/landowners wouldn't go a miss,

Regards

Yes it would and in this case i'm sure that will have been done.

I know that this is the result of considerable negotiation between the authority and TRF/GLASS/PDVUG people. Your point about the landowner is a good one but that too should have been covered if this is a LARA voluntary restraint (agreement of th elandowner is one of the requirements).

Cheers

Richard

New TRO's - Slaley Forest, Northumberland

All, there are now a number of TRO's in the Slaley Forest area. Northumbria TRF group members have been sent a map with the details. If anyone wants more info please pm me or email me - don't post up here as I don't use the forum much.

in a nut shell, several lanes have TRO's banning 4 wheeled vehicles (including quads). In addition those lanes also have seasonal (end Sept to May) TRO's for motorcycles. The Shire road (which crosses Embley fell) has an 18 month experimental TRO on it banning all vehicles so effectively we have lost that completely unless ADK or myself can come up with a bright idea.

Please respect the TRO's, they are correctly signed. Evidence of abuse of these TRO's WILL lead to further restriction.

Details are on the council's web site.
