Off Road or Enduro training providers who want to work with the TRF Are there any Off Road or Enduro providers knowledgeable about byways and the TRF who would like to work with the TRF? Feel free to get in touch and I will set up an area for you. |

Then only one's I know of (and have used to great benefit) are Ady Smith and Desert Rose but I'm not sure either are particularly byway orientated. Best of luck getting a reply from an email to Desert Rose though. |

You'd think byways would be important as a certain proportion of their clients would be the likes of us, who use byways & might not bother with dirt bikes, & therefore their courses, if there were no byways to use. |

To be fair, Ady is an enduro/track rider but does have virtually every KTM available to ride. Patsy obviously has Dakar links and now runs H+H races but also does bike training but seems more race orientated. She used KTM 400's and 690's My first day was on a 530 and the second on a 690 so I hardly started at the low power level. I think links with both would be very good. I started with an Ady Smith day just for the fun of it but got hooked while realising that, starting at 55, my enduro days were unlikely to be in front of me. My wife told me I must do another day out before I was allowed to empty the bank balance and that's where the problems started. Nearly everywhere I could find at the time that would do trail instruction days said you had to bring your own bike so that took them out of the loop or they would have required 2 days away because of the travelling involved (Derbyshire for instance). The odd firm would do MX days but that wouldn't help - I didn't want to go round and round in circles. If you can get firms interested in doing simple and advanced TRAIL riding courses, with your own or with supplied bikes, I would hope there was a justification for them in various areas around the country if marketed well enough. And price is significant - these days don't come cheap. |

Agreed There are enquiries on the forum from newbies who want training and I simply want to point them in a TRF knowledgable direction We should make links and partners regionally in this area |

But actual trail training would be more difficult. But as they need to have a licence etc etc then they would have a bit of riding knowlegde to thats a start. Most of the manufacturers all have OFF road days/experience. |

I may have got the wrong end of the stick. I didn't mean that these organisations should necessarily train riders on trails to still be able to work with the TRF & to lend weight to the political mire we find ourselves in. A well known name can carry a useful bit of persuasion, in some cases. They would obviously be helpul to trail riders going on their courses, as already described. I'd love to go on one & my 50th is in just under 5 years. I might treat myself. |

Why do you need high end big names? If you follow the IAM, its all done on local volunteers helping individuals to get them up to a standard. Of course this will not be good for some as will not have the desired look who is helping the TRF, but it might be better for actually helping skill for trail riding. |

Wheeldown Farm in Devon. Are or were supported by Husqvarna. You have to show you are competent on their own private tracks (starting indoors!), and then they will take you on some pretty challenging Devon lanes. They are aware of TRF, and work with Devon Group. |
