Hi all just joined the TRF and wife got me a KTM 250 exc f for my 40th. I live in Hampshire and was wondering what was the best gps to get for me bike for ride outs and were are the best lanes to use near me. |

Nice wife! I wouldn't worry about a GPS. I've been trail riding for nearly 20 years and never had one. Look on the groups section of this website for your nearest TRF group and contact them (not all groups look on this forum). they will give you plenty of advice, invite you on rides etc. Buy some OS maps of the area you want to ride in, and ride the Byways Open to All Traffic (marked as ++++) Unless they've got a TRO (no vehicles) sign where they meet the tarmac road, they will be legal. |

If you want a GPS then Satmap is excellent - wouldn't be without mine. Plan routes on full OS and can also record routes when you go out with others. I find it teh easiest way as a newbie to plan a day out and can also leave full details behind on where I am going. Planning maps is easy. Try Azcari online - you want bike version |

If you are on a budget try a road angel 7000 you can pick them up for about £70 on ebay. The 7000 adventurer are the best as they have memory map already loaded on the memory card. |

Road Angel Adventurer 7000 is no longer in production but can be found second hand. From new they only had OS 1:50,000 maps of the National Parks loaded and the whole of the Country on 1:250,000 (GB Road atlas). It is possible to load up extra OS Maps (if you already have them on Memory Map) but only in small chunks. |

Cost is about £320 with full OS 1:50K, LiPol, etc. Think also has voucher for 1:25K but that is too detailed for bike as run off screen too fast!! Hope that helps |

I use a Road Angel with very good results Yes they don't make them anymore but you can send any problem one's to Road angel for a full service Picked mine up for £60 of the finest english notes, in fact i'm greedy i have two now Plenty of useful information here http://devongtrf.activeboard.com/t20410 ... formation/ Very popular device in the devon TRF world  Laterz wacky
