......does anyone know who sells a good tool bags that will fit on the rear mudguard of a 2005 Honda XR400. I'd prefer the genuine Honda item but, any good quality tool bag would do. I've done all the usual internet searches without much success.

Kriega US-5 is a top quality rear mudguard bag which I think can be strapped or bolted on. I've PM'd you. |

Agree with the US-5. A great bag. The only downside with a rear fender bag is on heavy landings or potholes it does load the plastic a bit and crashes down - I'm starting to get a bit of discolouration where it bends slightly. I'm thinking about getting a bag to strap under the headlight for tools so it's better supported. |

On my road bikes I travel with virtually no tools but, when I'm out and about on the rough stuff I like to be prepared so, I currently use a rucksack filled with tools, fire extinguisher, emergency tyre weld, spares and electrical repair goodies. In fact, with what is in my rucksack, I think I could fix just about anything bar a full-engine catastrophe. Maybe I'm being a little OTT; what tools do the rest of you ride with?

I wrap a few spanners in an ex-army tool roll and bung them in my tail tidy thing. Puncture outfit. Spare levers. Tyre 'spoons' strapped to the handle bars. A few nuts, bolts, tie wraps, washers etc. Spare plug, standard (TTR) tool kit, copper slip, cuddly toy, sandwich toaster, trouser press and a packet of paracetemol (have you tried to fix a bike with a headache?). |

Tyre foam, multi spanner, multi tool and some cable ties + Recovery card, mobile phone and cash card. I prefer to travel light. |

US-5 here too, use it to carry spare tube and everything to get tyre on and off including pump. got a motion pro multi tool in my camelbak that does just about everything else. |

I carry the std KTM toolkit (spanners for chain adjustment etc) and a tow rope - that's it. I have mousses front and rear so no need for any puncture repair stuff (it rarely works anyway) or spare innertube. |

I find having a tool bag, whatever the size or shape a real pain when its strapped/bolted to the rear mudgaurd mainly as it means you have to swing your leg that bit higher every time you want to get on the bike. Even worse if you have to dismount quickly. Strap it to the front mudgaurd if its light, failing that, put it in your rucksack with your other gear. It is quite rare to get evcerything you need into a tool bag. |
