Out of interest 'crazy lady' :D , what route do you use to do the 1000 miles and how many hours actual riding?
I imagine Scotland is the only place to find generally decent roads with little traffic.

My mate has just done LeJoG on a 1943 Indian but he did take 4 days each way - I think he's entitled though.
A friend of his has ridden from Devon to JoG in one day but that probably accounts for his lack of sense of humour.

I've done kendal to LE in 15 hours to go on hols so was only pootling.
I usually do the northern anticlockwise. The idea being to not be doing any twisty roads in the dark. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Twisty roads keep you awake but tyer

If you look on the iron butt site you can do a saddle sore 1000 or any of the others from a start point and time of your choice. Much easier. But the rblr1000 is for a good cause.

I think I'll stick to a nice run around now.
250 or so in a day should be sufficient for my office butt.
I'll have a look at the site out of interest though.

I have a few long day days- and nights.........I really cant be bothered with mileage...........I have read about too many incidences............running behind miles......pick boring roads and ride faster to keep awake, yeah great idea.

Everyone seeks challenges in different ways, I'd no idea how popular this was until CBL brought it up.
It's not my thing either but then neither is a round the world bike trip or having the latest enduro machine for pootling about on but each to their own.

I'd be interested in a green laning equivilent though, I wonder what that could be. I think 1000 miles could be done in a week of daytime riding.

If it can it would be a disappointment as it would demonstrate that there is only 3 and half weeks of legal riding in the UK.

An interesting proposal though :?

You've lost me there Mike.

I was just thinking of something similar for the trail rider and took the 1000 mile approach and reccon it would take 5 days riding every day for say 10 hours. I'm not sure 24hr trail riding would be so smart or sociable.
