yes my first too.....brilliant. Struggled on the tests though, maxed out on all of them except the Last special test. I dont know how to work the computer on me bike so i counted out 45 seconds.......come in on 44.42.

need some practise before trying again.

You need to use my approach - claim a 5 for everything that looks too tricky (most of them

) and just do the ones that seem that a 3 is the worst I'm going to get.

Oh dear David. All this prep for India and avoiding dangerous sports!!

I vote for a new TRF event of Roadbook Navigation, no tests and the winner is the rider who sinks the biggest cooked brekkie or last man standing in the pub or summat !! :lol:

I too had a great time. Really uber-enjoyed the navigation and lanes but not so much the tests. Heavyish bike, no talent and complete lack of patience to do things at a snails pace doesn't help ! Didn't do as woefully as some (overheard a guy say he dropped his bike on every test !) but I don't think Mr Lampkin needs to be too worried and I had plenty of 5's ! Well done and thanks to the organisers and road book writers ! G

I did that in August and still didn't come last. I have to say it's the navigation and lane riding that I enjoy rather than the sections, for which I have no ability - which is why 'Spitfire' now owns my trials bike. Not quite the spirit but I'm out for a fun day, not covered in bruises. I did more damage to myself cutting the grass with the ride-on mower yesterday by catching my arm on a passing quince tree than I have in all four years of trail riding Glad everyone had a good time.

That was going to be my approach but a lot of the tests appeared to have the trail blocked with branches or taping (not at a height you could nip under without breaking it either!) so that you kind of had to do them. Well it was a Long Distance 'Trial' so it is what it is - no complaints from me! There were some very skillful trial riders on very light bikes with trials tyres that made it all look so effortless - they tended to be chuffing sloooow on the lanes though ! zzzz I vote for a new TRF event of Roadbook Navigation, no tests and the winner is the rider who sinks the biggest cooked brekkie or last man standing in the pub or summat !! Was my first ldt to and really enjoyed it to, even the special tests. everyone was cheerful and helpful and everything seamed to run smoothly without a hitch big thank you to all the organisers and helpers. Anyone else crash into the tree on section 6?

Graham I agree that a non trial version would have a much wider appeal to non-trialsy people like me. I had been thinking of that myself. Maybe of more interest to visitors from nearby groups as, other than making the route different from normal, it might be a bit boring for the local club members. A great way to ride neighbouring lanes though although it does need some form of local authority approval as far as I know.
