Emboldened by my ride out at the weekend i have signed up for this event

has anyone done it before? anyone going this time? anything i should know?

Yep, I'll be there, hopefully with some Surrey TRF'ers

The opening sections have been quite tough the last 2 years, but from then on, it has been a really pleasant ride.

Highly recommended!

I helped plan the route, it's about 90 miles in total, a big loop around Ashford, takes in as many old roads and byways as possible. The sections are laid out by some of Sidcups trials riders.
It should be a nice days riding.

Due to a woefully low ability on the trials sections, I miss most of them out but still enjoy the rest of an LDT immensely.

Using the road book is great fun and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I can't make it this year so will have to dip out.

if i was to have a go on my 450...would it be a suitable bike?

I was going to say " can i do it on my 450" but that would leave me open to suggestions about my riding prowess :? :?

Presumably road legal etc etc but what about things like ACU license etc?

Mike I'm tempted to have a go on the 690.......what I cant go around I will flatten !

Yes your 450 would be fine, the sections are designed with trail bikes in mind.
You can get an ACU day licence for the event on the day.
The starting point is the Gliding club at Charing, you can get a nice breakfast before you start. You will need a tank range of around 50 miles to make the first petrol stop, this will be marked on the road book.
You don't need a special road book holder, a normal map case will do the job.

You can get day licences for ACU Trials and Sidcup Club so Just a few quid to add to the entry fee (£10 and £5??).
The ACU licence will last a year and you will get news emails for ever.

Have a go -if I can pretend with my low level of ability then anyone can.
You don't get to view the sections and some can be quite tough so I just say '5 please' and carry on down the lane and wait for my riding mates.
Even then, I didn't come last!!!!

There are cracking lanes around the Ashford area (and the whole of Kent) so get in there and get signed up.
It's quite a long day though so be prepared as you don't get the normal breathers that you do on a day out.
