will the oil i use in my R6 (motul semi synthetic 5100 ester SAE 10W-40 API SL / SJ / SH / SG) be ok to use in my bmw g450x? i buy this in bulk for the yam so would be handy if i could use my new bike also as ive got gallons of the stuff. the bmw manual calls for 10w-40 API SF to SH its this API rating thats confusing me as every guide can find states API SF and SG as obsolete. cheers |

http://www.api.org/certifications/engin ... _GUIDE.pdf The oil you have meets or exceeds the standards for SL / SJ / SH / SG grades. The fact SG and SH grades are obsolete is by the by. The Oil still meets or exceeds them. The fact BMW recommend obsolete grades is interesting tho. |
