Hi all

just been reading about a route called the "Corpse Road" which runs from Garrigill nr Alston in Cumbria over the top of the pennines down into Dufton which is near Appleby. It doesn't show on trailwise as going all the way over but on one OS map it is shown as green dashes with green diamonds between and on another map as red dashes with red dots between. It looks like a good long trail and I'd love to have a go but don't want to upset the locals or get knicked etc. (theres a radar station quite close on the trail so could be popular with plod etc.

anyone know?

thanks

Err, I was about to answer this question with a yes I know it but on second thoughts perhaps I'm wrong.

Your not taliking about this "Old Corpse Road" are you?

That ones definitely a footpath (although it perhaps shouldn't be, who knows) but i'm guessing now thats not the one so sorry the answers no.

Over to someone else perhaps.

Cheers

Richard

Only a very small part of this rout is legal and so is effectively a dead end. The legal bit is from Garrigill to approx NY729 395 and is the U3118.

Hope this helps
Ian

To the first reply, no the route i was on about is up over hartside pass nr Alston., to the second, I had assumed that as I found a site from the local council with all the legal rooutes and it appeared to show it as a dead end. What a bloody shame, it looks as though it'd be really good ride over the top.

Thanks both.
