Hi all, planning an over-nighter and space is at a premium on the bike, what with tent, sleeping bag, stove, etc. Can anyone recommend a sleeping mat that packs up really small please? cheers axa |

Thermarest is probably the best bet. About £50 on eBay. You may get a 3/4 length one from army surplus cheaper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a thermarest self inflating sleeping matt. Folds up small when air removed. |

Thermarest airbed. Do not get the self - inflating ones as they are bulky and uncomfortable in comparison. I got one of these, pricy, but it made the difference between my being able to continue camping or having to give it up: https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk ... -mat-p3610 |

Sleeping comfort is a very personal thing I have found.... I prefer an airbed or my humungous XL Thermarest self inflate If you are tight on space, an airbed really does disappear into a tiny space, but you need a small 12v pump I find, but still less space than a self inflate. Aldi/Lidl both had sleeping mats in their camping sales 2-3 weeks ago, and your local branch may still have a discounted one |

For £50 you could get a B&B room for the night. Yes, I know you can use it more than once. In my bike camping days (including our honeymoon ) we just relied on the hope for soft grass. |

Thermarest airbeds come with a smallish stuffsack that also doubles up as a pump to inflate the bed. They also sell the adaptors to inflate the airbed separately. I fitted an adaptor to a 100l waterproof rucksack liner that I use as a roll bag to stash my tent and airbed in. Takes about three pumps to inflate the airbed. I tried the 12v pump option but found the 100l stuffsack to be less of a faff, also helps to keep the weight/bulk down. |

This is what I use... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermarest-MondoKing-inflatable-blue-2015/dp/B008O6JCWO Bed like comfort, but needs a lot of space in transport. However, when in Spain for 6-7 days on the HISS, it is bliss!! Perfect for the "fuller figured" Gentleman!!! |
