I had CR125 forks fitted to my CRF 230 using spacer and CR yokes, this allows you to use standard CRF230 headstock bearings. On fast riding they were better but low speed and technical going to harsh on initial stroke they also limit the steering lock. They can be re-valved but after running them for a year I went back to standard fork running 25mm spacer to increase preload 10w fork oil at standard level as the spacer give the effect of more oil due to reducing free volume. The forks are pushed through flush with top yoke and is in combination with Hagon rear shock which has adjustable rebound, I find this a good set up for trail riding and give slightly more ground clearance.
Manuela (pumpy) from the Oxford group has CR80 USD forks on her 230, I believe it was bought like it, I have not ridden it so cannot comment on what it is like.
I bought mine off Manuela I think her "new" one replaced it..Thanks for the insight Bill.I'm not sure the 230 benefits from such a conversion hence the questions and search for long term users. At the end of the day it's been enginered to suit it's use and as you say Bill it just needs "tweaks".BTW did you make the adjusters or buy them...?
Thanks all.
