Just received my membership pack for 2017

A flimsy sticker (see top of scanned attachment) with no year date, to say i'm a current and paid up TRF member for the year and no plastic member ship card either (despite asking for one at renewal)

Sticker will come off, with first wash

Really is this all the members are worth?

Don't give me the clap trap of more in the pot for the fighting fund, a plastic card and decent sticker would cost less than £3

Disappointed of North Yorkshire

So that's probably more £5 than £3 but either way that's £12k-15k saved each year plus someones time and effort. More if you renewed on line and not by cheque. The average cost of defending/fighting a TRO is what, £25k?

you do the maths. id rather have no card than lose a lane and I'm sure so would the majority of members.

But if you want a card just ask for one again. the volunteer who processed your renewal might have made a genuine mistake. they are only an unpaid human after all!

What do you expect for your fee. loads of admin, printing, postage and processing costs? a mag which drains 50% of the income only to tell us nothing we cant read online?

Is that all the TRF is to you just a plastic card and a sticker??

Stop stirring it up. Why did you even feel the need to post this?

The problem with multiplying small savings by the number of members is its possible to justify almost anything, whats not being taken into account is the bad feeling it generates multiplied by the number of members.

A dated sticker was all very well when there is a fixed 'year' but with rolling memberships, unless they are printed individually as were tax discs, just a membership sticker is all that is viable IMHO.

But, it should be backed up with a real or virtual (as in visible on a smart phone) proof of membership as that can bee needed at events or meetings.
Double BUT, not a plastic credit card type - a complete waste of money IMHO.

I would be more than happy to print my own onto a piece of paper or thin card - it's not rocket science and perfectly sufficient.

Probably because he has an opinion of his own, and expects the right to express it, just as you do.

I awlays donate a bit extra, and pay for a few more stickers.

It is rewarding to recieve something tangeable back.

Just multiply the big numbers by the big amount that does not go to a card or sticker

We seem to pay a fair bit for events these days but nobody complains.

Each member has there own reasons to renew or not renew, tp loose members of a couple of £ is not productive.

Just an angle.

I wouldn't worry about the sticker falling off. Or the plastic membership card. What I would worry about is the number of lane closures particularly in the Peak District. Won't be needing either soon the way things are going

Bingo, read that smokeinrider  ^^^^^^^^

I can join the ACU, for a Trials permit for £10 which is a photocard and enter as many trials as I like for the year

I get insurance and a bi-monthly colour magazine too, for my tenner

I can then join a local club for a tenner, then ride all their events which costs £10-£15/event for 4-5 hours of pure riding fun

Not really sure what the TRF is actually adding to my life at present
