Hi all,

Im currently a tarmac road biker or 30 years, riding a Hayabusa currently.

Im thinking of buying a friends KTM EXC 530 (2010) as its a good price and barely used, I used ro ride dirt bikes in my younger years, then did a few years on a Beta trial riding after an injury on teh crosser as i couldnt bare the thought of hurting myself again.

I need something to do at weekends, I live local to the Peak District, Heanor, so its 5 miles and im on green lanes.

The advice wanted is would the 530 be unsuitable for a semi novice returning to dirt bikes?

Im only 5'8", im also thinking the seat height may be too much, ideas / suggestions please?

Also looking for a few meets to show me the routes and lanes, ill buy the coffee!

Thanks all

Daz

Happy to show you around the Peaks as long as you can manage my gentle pace. Preferably mid week but I can do weekends if that's all you can manage.

I'm also in the derbyshire area, matlock to be precise. Fairly new to all the myself so if your out and about, feel free to let me know. If anyone else is doing some mid week riding? Shift pattern means I'm all over the shop when it comes to days off.

Hi all,

Yes will be able to do midweek, i am also a novice so i dont aim to hurt myself on my 1st few rides, steady eddie!! So i am happy with a slow pace.

I have a KTM EXC 530, I have just bought this recently off a friend has he has given up as no time to ride and it was a good deal.

Its a good bike, i just need to get on it now and learn its limitations and obvioulsy mine.

If the bike is a little on the tall side, you could go to somewhere like K-tech and get them to lower and set your suspension up to suit. Know a couple of guys who have done this and it's made all the difference.

You may also be able to get a slimmer seat from ktm with less foam which would also help!

Cheers,
Dom
