Hi -
I'm completely new to trail riding so I would appreciate some advice please:

My location means that I probably need to travel about 25 miles on tarmac to reach the lanes around here.
Bike is likely to be Suzuki DR350. I wont be doing much riding except for trails and the journeys to/from.

Regarding tyres I'm thinking of Heidenhau K60 Scout trails which I believe are a decent 50-50 tyre.

Personal choice I know- but is this a good tyre choice for a beginner? or should I go for a more knobbly type?

Thanks

The tyres you enquire about would be hopeless in mud and expensive, the tyres in the link are good in most conditions and reasonably priced.

I found the Pirelli mt21 to be a good all round tyre with nice road manners. Not the best tyre in the mud but as a 60/40 trail/road tyre you won't beat it. A set would easily last 2500 miles if you didn't abuse them too much on the road

If you can get a size to fit a pair of Michelin AC10s . I think these will help you in most off road conditions

Trail riding round Northamptonshire is like riding through pig slop. You just end up plowing fields.

Recently fitted a Mitas C02 to the rear and found it excellent for going through mud and handles pretty well on the road!

Bikes its fitted to is a TTR250 Raid

Yep AC10's not for me either  K60 great 50/50 been all over Europe with them on, lower than 130 are the best as no centre band.

But for what your looking for get some M7304 Maxxcross IT, commonly known as Maxxis IT good road manners and great trail tyre 8-)
