It keeps VOSA happy because it shows that the MOT station notices things on machines that are being tested. If every bike is pass, pass, pass, etc then they would be around to inspect the MOT tester to ensure that the job is being carried as prescribed.

I'm sure you are right. advisories often serve a useful purpose for the owner but they also sometimes seem to have random things written on them!

When I have my car MoT'd it sometimes has obscure 'advisories' on it. I have never attended to any of the issues raised, and as the car has got older the 'advisories' have gradually faded away. It passed with none at all last time, with 100,000 miles on the clock. Old Fords never die!

One thing that has always made me chuckle for bikes made after 1986 (including "off road" bikes) is that if you have pillion footpegs fitted then you must have indicators fitted. And if you have indicators fitted they must work.

So - post 1986 - pillion footpegs - working indicators....

Go figure.

Luckily not too many MOT testers read the small print as closely as some of us who should have better things to do with our time.

I'm off to tidy my sock drawer now....

Ohh, no I've got something else to polish in the garage....hooray..... :D :D :D

Your pillion passenger is the indicators.
My wife is having to re-learn the job since I bought the Triumph.
