Can anyone recommend a good quality reasonably priced inductive tachometer. i just want a basic rev counter for my XR650R and thought the spark plug wrap around type would do the job. apparently the limiter is set to 8500RPM but power tails off at 6k odd so seems a little pointless winding it on further

Cheers
JP

Trail Tech TTO tacho and hour meter combined. One wire only to the plug. Clear LCD screen but no light. Internal non replaceable battery lasts at least 5 years. Reads hours run when engine not running, revs when it is, and when you stop the engine, it shows the max engine speed for the journey. Around £30 from the USA.

Perfect, I literally have spent 4/5 hours googling variations of the words: tacho, hour meter, bike rev counter etc etc etc... to only have thrown up some cheap £8 chinese thing.

That is exactly what i was looking for...

Muchos gracias!

They're available in Black, Silver and Orange (for the KTM oriented chaps).

The push button version with clock is out of stock until first week of August.

Thanks guys, sorted!

Ended up with a vapour trail after looking around the website. thought the water temp and backlight speedo/tacho would come in handy.

Thanks for your help!

All that information, you may end up frightening yourself :-)

Don't forget to alter the set points!

You'll be alright - even a Tiffy can manage it!

You may never get used to the sequence of button presses to reset the mileage, time etc. I could never remember!
IIRC the rev limit and the temperature limits are set quite low as a default - not an issue with the revs, but you may be startled when you get a yellow light up that says the water is too hot!
On my old CRF, I set the yellow water temperature to the high 90's and the red at 110. It used to boil a bit on the slow stuff in the summer!
