Hello all, I am a newbie waiting for my first ride. Please Bear Wiv

I am in the process of getting my essential together after the recent purchase of my CCM 404 DS :)

I fancied the Motion Pro tyre levers with the spanner on the end, thinking I could save some space and weight. I see that my back wheel has a 30mil nut on the back. This does not appear to be a standard size and I cant get these levers.

The guy at the store said this was a unique feature of my bike. He knows of some people who had a new nut machined to a standard size, but also said the axle may share the same diameter as another bike but use a standard size nut. Thereby solving the issue.

What would you guys recommend (do not say sell the bike!!!)?

Cheers
Craig

Greetings Craig,

Might I suggest that you 'phone or write to CCM and ask their advice as they may have come across this problem before.

Here is their internet link; http://www.ccm-motorcycles.com

I just carry a robust 'shorty' adjustable spanner.

If you need to get the back wheel out away from base you either put your boot on it or hit it with a rock.

Motion pro sell a 1/2 inch drive adaptor for the alloy lever.

Get one of them and a 30mm socket.

Buy a 30mm spanner
Then cut it and weld the ring section of it to a tyre lever.

Hi Craig,
Very impressed that you're thinking these details through before you've even had your first ride!
I wouldn't overthink this one too much, the CCM is a fairly heavy bike and the weight of the tools won't make much difference to the all up weight. How about a 30mm box spanner and a tommy bar? reasonably light, cheap and it can act as as sleeve to put your tyre levers in.

Greetings,

I think I've figured it out as to why 30mm 8-)

You have a puncture  so you call the AA or RAC :geek:

AA or RAC turn up with a Ford Transit Van

Ford Transit vans have 30mm sized wheel nuts, so the van has a wheel brace and therefore you do n't need to carry one

Simples, they think of everything

Or....get a massive adjustable spanner and grind the handle end Into a tyre lever....will also undo any bolt under 30mm as well then...Dragons Den ?...

I'd recommend buying a bike or brand which everybody else rides, that way there is a pool of knowledge, parts and tools.
