Which usually translates to 'we can't sell any'.

Best trail bike has to be the Yamaha WR250R (not the 'F')

I've owned a CRFL - a great bike and will cope with pretty much everything, but after a year I just wanted a bit more so ended up selling it.

The Yam WR250R is the one - lighter/faster/more ground clearance/adjustable suspension. Not ridden one myself mind :)

Yeah good bikes the WR250r for green laning. Problem is I still think the Wr250r,Crf250l,Klx250 are all heavier than a DRZ400 Which i am surprised about as a DRZ is probably double the BHP.

Yes I have a drz also so am slightly biased

A bike that does come up very rarely in this country is the DRZ250, air cooled lump. Meant to be a great trail bike. I think if I was going 250 trailie I would go for a TTR 250.

I'm seriously thinking of going back to a DR350SE

For 'trail' riding it's a great bike

6sp
Good gearing
Decent suspension for the trail
Weight = Planted
Decent service intervals
Air cooled
Rugged
Easy on trail maintenance - with fork gaitors & snail cam chain adjusters

I've been out on my new to me KTM 400 RFS, this week & it had left me underwhelmed, a bit

Yes it was punchy, fast, lighter, narrow & with excellent suspension - but for trailriding it was a total overload overkill

When I got home & thought about it, I thought my other bike, a XR 400 or a buy a well sorted DR350 would be a much better bike for TRAIL riding

What has happened to a decent trail bike - there aren't many about

DR350! Great bikes. Problem is finding a good one is pretty hard I reckon. Saw one the other week that was mint it went for over 2 grand....

I think the old skool trail bike stuff fetches decent money now. But like you say for "trail" riding bikes like the DR350 are very good. I don't really do any eventing these days so not really intrested in the competition stuff like I used to be. Prefer something decent to ride on the road and can get up a byway and out the other end...

Get a DR350 and show us a picture!

Will do - a friend has one a 96 SE with electric

He's been through it mechanically front to back, apart from the engine, which is sweet anyhow & done 10,000 (ave 500 miles/year)

Going to have a look tomorrow - reckon I can get it for £1k, with a mot on it already
