Thanks for the responses guys, I am persevering with repeated freezes but with very little effect so far.
If that doesn't work I have been offered the loan of a blow-out kit so will try to do that without melting it!

I have established that it is a Ti header; the very, very slight magnetism can be put down to impurities and the paramegnetic nature of Ti (thanks Richard)

put in large self tapping screw heat then pull only small hole to weld or weld screw pull then cut head off screw so no hole

Give Nick Paravani a call 01953 454573 Competition Fabrications, Bonns Bank, Attleborough Norfolk.
If he can't do it nobody can. He also welds titanium.
My only association with him is as an extremely satisfied customer.

Thanks for that Vern, but it has just gone off to Gibbs Performance in Saltash - a recommendation I got through the Devon TRF forum.
