Carl I think I already answered this in your first thread - here goes again - either join the TRF, who have a pub meeting on the second wednesday of each month, and a TRF ride the sunday of that week, or go to http://www.essexbikers.co.uk (where we arrange regular rides), or if you want to go it alone, use OS explorer/landranger maps, look at http://www.trailwise.org.uk/gmaps/gmap.htm, or even use the online OS map here: http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=51.882 ... %20CO6%203 , if you don't want to buy one.

There are loads around braintree so you don't need to look far. Just be careful though, as some may be heavily rutted - and with the bike you have they may be a struggle.

PS byways are marked on OS maps as follows: ++++++, either in pink or green depending on the scale.

I'm also new to this and have been looking for places to ride. Not to far from colchester. Sudbury actually. Looking at the maps from the links you have mentioned there is is not as much places to ride as I thought there would be :( What bike are you riding?
