Given up on fancy gear as it never survives falls onto Peak District rocks or barbed wire. Ex army MVP gortex is so good and very cheap it's an easy choice. Waterproof and windproof and all over eBay for only a few quid.

It's worth buying your first set from an army surplus type shop in person to get the sizing right as squaddies seem to a totally different shape to the rest of us and you need to allow for cold weather gear, armour etc.

Make sure you wash them in simple soap, not detergent, and tumble dry on low heat.

Ebay gortex jacket and bottoms £80 and when it's had its days cheep enuf to go and get some more, don't fancy paying lots of £££ and catch a branch and put a hole in it I would cry, cheep and cheerful all the way
