I would say it would depend entirely on why it doesn't have a V5 document. The DRZ400E was originally a road legal machine so what's the history of this one?

If it turns out to be a stolen bike (doesn't mean it is, but it could be) then if you do buy it and it is later discovered that it was stolen you will lose the bike with no comeback at all, as in theory it belongs to the insurance company that paid out for the theft.

There may be a genuine reason why it doesn't have a V5, but I wouldn't even consider bidding on it without finding out what the reason is first.

That second one isn't a DRZ400E, no headlight and it's unlikely to have a key operated ignition switch either.

The second one was never sold as a road bike, but the first one was.

Ah thanks very much mate. Was just curious on a price of the first one as it is local. No rush to buy, would be grateful of any help when I do purchase one though

Actually - I could be talking complete nonsense. Just looked at the Suzuki website and they have a DRZ400E listed, in their off road (ie not road legal) range of bikes, and it may have a headlight!

I still think that first one looks fishy though.

I have never bought a none road legal bike before, so I can't say for certain, but I would have thought that even though they are not road legal there would still be some form of ownership document.

I dont want to pay much for an off-road bike as it would just to learn on. I have some land I can play on

Ideally I would like a half decent plated bike but this came up so just wondered

I have asked him but he has not replied yet

Thanks again

hi there every drz 400e will have been registered at some point .
any bike with no v5 is in my opinion should never be looked at , its like the old day off when buying crossers you dont know what your getting. i would say if you were interseted in any bike get it HPI checked so it does not belong to a finance company also is it stolen recovered. if it looks to much off a bargain question it . :)
