Does changing the gearing on these bikes affect the speedo readout?

It shouldn't change the readout if the cable / sensor runs from the front wheel.
It might do if it runs from the gearbox output.

Changing the gearing does effect the speedo.

The speed pick up is on the gearbox not the front wheel.

Hi all, Ive just bought a crf250L and was looking everywhere online for some info on how I can make the ride more comfortable for the taller rider and this thread was a a lot of help...although I think Ill be spending a bit more than I originally thought:

Sump guard
Bar risers
New tyres Mich or Maxx
Hand guards

Etc.

The only thing I didnt get to find out is if anyone has had any luck getting a taller seat? Im 6ft4 and the riding is a little cramped.

Im in Nottingham so if anyone is about let me know. Ill be joining the Notts club and maybe saying hi to the Derby lot once in a while

The KLX250S has a marginally higher seat.

You might be able to get a seating specialist to build you a deeper-foam seat on the Honda base?
